Qamar is known for her kitsch illustrations which are inspired from Roy Lichteinstein's comic book style. Her art work captures the dichotomy of being an immigrant, and tries to bridge the gap between the 'Desi' and Canadian cultures. Her drawings often take a dig at the things traditional desi aunties say, and have hit a chord with thousands of South Asian women.
"I'm taking what already exists and laughing about it like an inside joke," she said, describing her art to the BBC.
Simon and Schuster has also released 'Trust No Aunty', a book Qamar wrote based on her work. The book is written as a tongue-in-cheek guide 'designed to help you manage Aunty-Meddling.'
Qamar's exhibits her work through the brand 'Hatecopy.'
