A 17-year-old teenager who dreamt of joining the Indian army allegedly died by suicide at her home in Maharashtra's Pandharpur town due to harassment by three men. Reportedly, the girl was fed up of the constant teasing by three men and ended up hanging herself to death. Her body was discovered on the morning of December 7. The three accused men have been arrested by the police.

The girl also left a suicide note which was found by the girl’s family three days after her death in one of her notebooks. In the suicide note, the girl reportedly apologised to her parents and also to Bharat Mata. She further said that her dream to don an army uniform and wear a tricoloured badge will never be fulfilled as she is ending her life because of harassment by the three men. The girl also named the three accused in her letter, the men were arrested by the police on Sunday.

Senior inspector Prashant Bhasme of Pandharpur rural police station said, “We have arrested all three persons under relevant sections of the IPC.” He further added, “ as per the suicide note, one of the accused had held the deceased’s hand and had threatened her not speak about it.” Bhasme also said, “In the note, the girl alleged that the three accused used to pass remarks at her, due to which she felt harassed,” as per reports.
