Playback singer and musician Arijit Singh's mother is believed to be admitted to a hospital in Kolkata. The news was confirmed after actor Swastika Mukherjee took to social media asking Singh's fans and followers to donate blood.
It is not confirmed that Singh's mother is suffering from COVID-19 as no official statement has been released by Arijit Singh or his family. Swastika Mukherjee wrote, "Need A- blood for singer Arijit Singh’s mother, admitted in Amri Dhakuria. Need it today. Pls contact @swatihihihi with verified MALE DONORS (sic)." Mukherjee was last seen in Pataal Lok, a popular web series on Amazon Prime. The show was produced by Clean Slate Filmz, a production house co-owned by Anushka Sharma.
Another actor named Srijit Mukherjee also shared the same message on his Twitter handle. The message has received many responses after it was posted. The second wave of COVID-19 has costed many lives till now. The number of positive cases is rising exponentially every day and the medical supplies are dwindling. During these times, social media has been able to prove very beneficial for many people as they were successful in getting leads for medical supplies.

Singer Arijit Singh was reportedly born in Jiaganj, Murshidabad area of West Bengal. He participated as a young talent in Fame Gurukul, a singing reality show in 2005. He later rose to fame after his song Tum Hi Ho released. He is now a recipient of a National Award, six Filmfare awards and several other honours. He recently started his stint as a music composer with the film Pagglait. The film starred Sanya Malhotra in the lead role.
