How often do we see actors playing sportsperson in movies? A common scene, isn’t it? Have you heard it the other way round? Arguably this is one of the very rare times we will watch Archer Deepika Kumari, a gold medallist in the Commonwealth Games (CWG), dazzle the silver screen.
The ace archer, who is training hard for the 2018 Asian Games and CWG, will debut as a lead in a movie on "witch-hunting".
Reports claim that Deepika will essay a lead role in a film that will talk about how many women get targeted every year because of this the social evil.
The Hindi film is tentatively titled ‘Bisahi’.
The sports star is all set to educate us about the religious plague that has vastly, consumed human minds. Despite the efforts of awareness, it is still practised in some parts of the country and the world, including Deepika’s home state, Jharkhand.

“Incidents of witch-hunting surface in the news from all across the world all the time. With this film, we are looking forward to taking the issue to the international stage. The film will be a documentation of the trauma and prejudices faced by women who stand out in society,” Bisahi’s producer, Suresh Seth Bhagat said to The Times of India.
The Arjuna awardee was initially sceptical about the offer to act in the film. However, after reading the script she jumped as the storyline was very moving. The film’s production is also set in same parts and the shooting will kick-start in mid-March. The entire film will be shot in Jharkhand and majority of the cast members will be from the state.
Seth also added, "We wanted people from Jharkhand to feature in the film to give it a real look. And we finally zeroed in on Deepika after thinking it over a lot. She was initially reluctant, but the storyline of the film moved her and she finally agreed to shoot for it. We will shoot with her on a strict schedule and ensure all her shots are wrapped up in the very first phase."
