She Confessed To A Theft While Sleep Talking. Her Husband Reported Her To Police

After his wife confessed to stealing, Antony Fort reported her to the police. But there's a caveat. Ruth Fort reportedly blurted the confession unknowingly, in her sleep. Antony said while he loved his wife, he was heartbroken over finding out that she had cheated a vulnerable person.

As per reports, back in 2018, Fort stole £7200 from an ailing woman bound to a wheelchair in whose employ she served as a caregiver. The woman lived in a care home in the United Kingdom.

Fort could have possibly made it away without getting caught for her theft if it wasn't for sleep talking. Her confessions reportedly rang alarms for Antony, who was it turns out already wary about the exorbitant expenditures Fort was making. He also found a debit card belonging to the sick woman in his wife's purse.

He approached the police in December 2018 with the information he had and his wife was arrested.

The old case is making headlines this month after Fort recently appeared before a court in Liverpool, bringing the matter into the spotlight once again. She reportedly missed her drug rehabilitation sessions during her jail sentence.

"She was spending so much," Antony said, as quoted by Mirror. He said his wife had previously told him she was working for a woman who "had 98k in her bank account." It was in that moment that Antony said an instinct told him something was off. "I realised Ruth must have access to the card and pin number."

When he apparently confronted his wife about her splurges soon after, she claimed the money was coming from relatives. Antony, however, did not know whether to believe her or not.

As per reports, their marriage, after they tied the knot in 2010, was not always smooth-sailing and the couple had hit some rough patches along the way. All seemed to be well when the theft confession dropped into Antony's lap.

When Antony heard the inadvertent confession and then spotted the debit card that reportedly fell out of Fort's purse, "it all clicked into place" for him. He confronted his wife again and she came clean. Antony said he told his wife to pack up and leave the house.

According to reports, Fort received a suspended jail sentence of 16 months in 2021 and Antony was lauded by the court for bringing the truth to light. He told the media that there was local uproar after their case went viral and the sensationalism surrounding it affected his family.
