Andrew Cuomo sexual misconduct allegations: After a former aide accused Governor of New York Andrew Cuomo of sexual harassment, Representative Elise Stefanik asked for his resignation and alleged him of being a “criminal sexual predator”.
Stefanik said, “any elected official who does not immediately call for his resignation is complicit in allowing a sexual predator to continue leading the great state of New York.”
Lindsey Boylan, a former aide and now a Democratic candidate for Manhattan borough President made serious allegations of sexual harassment against Andrew Cuomo in an essay she published online. In the essay, Boylan alleged that Cuomo kissed her "on the lips" without her consent after a meeting in his Manhattan office.
Stefanik referring to the essay said that she has served in Congress during the height of the Metoo movement which led to resignations and retirements of her colleagues. She added that "Sexual harassment and sexual abuse in the workplace is not a political issue, it is about right and wrong. Governor Cuomo must immediately resign.”
Her demand was seconded by another member of the New York congressional delegation, Rep. Nicole Malliotakis. She said, “I already called for Gov. Cuomo to resign over his mishandling of nursing homes, the coverup, and for threatening Assemblyman Ron Kim."
Malliotakis said that the allegations are disgusting and if true, they are "all the more reason why Cuomo needs to go. She further demanded an investigation of allegations made by Boylan by the state Joint Commission on Public Ethics. Other members of the assembly such as Alessandra Biaggi and Yuh-Line Niou also supported Boylan's claims and asked for Andrew Cuomo's resignation.
