The shocking incident involved her mother's live-in partner, Ulava Suresh, who allegedly pushed Keerthana, her mother Puppala Suhasini (36), and her sister Jersey (1) from the bridge.

While Keerthana's mother and sister were swept away by the river's current, she exhibited remarkable presence of mind and tenacity by maintaining her grip on the plastic pipe.

With unwavering resolve, she retrieved her cell phone from her pocket and dialled 100 for police assistance.

"Suresh, who is living with my mother, took us to Rajamahendravaram. He stopped the car on Ravulapalem Bridge, on the pretext of taking a selfie, and pushed the three of us into the Godavari river," revealed Keerthana, recounting the harrowing sequence of events once she was safely in the custody of the police.

Ravulapalem police were quick to respond to Keerthana's distress call, rushing to the scene promptly.

"At around 3.50 am on Sunday, we received a call seeking help. We reached the location by 4 am and found a girl clinging onto the bridge pipeline in a perilous situation," recounted the Ravulapalem police.

Thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Ravulapalem police and highway mobile personnel, Keerthana was successfully rescued from her precarious position.

While her courageous act saved her from the clutches of the river, her mother and baby sister remain missing, emphasising the gravity of the situation.

The authorities have launched a concerted search operation, with two distinct teams assembled for the task.
