Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy recently launched the YSR Cheyutha Scheme via a video conference. This scheme focuses on providing financial assistance to women from the state. The scheme applies to women who are above 45 years of age and below 60 years, and are from the SC, ST, OBC and minority communities. The scheme will enable them to get direct cash transfers.
It is being launched to empower socio-economically deprived women by guiding them into entrepreneurship and helping them establish strong, rewarding businesses. It aims to open several avenues for women to create their own employment opportunities and be financially stable.

“Unlike other schemes, YSR Cheyutha is unique in the sense that it gives freedom to eligible women to use the amount deposited in their unencumbered accounts for any purpose of their choice. Women who invest the amount on setting up business units as suggested by the government would be provided marketing and technical support. They also become eligible for bank loans,” he explained.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister pointed out that around eight lakh widows and single women in the age group of 45 to 60 years are receiving a pension at a rate of Rs 27,000 per annum. In addition to this, they would now receive Rs 18,750 per annum which will result in a total of Rs 45,750 per year. Moreover, Andhra Pradesh government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOUs) with several companies like Amul, Reliance, Hindustan Unilever Limited to assist fresh women entrepreneurs with free marketing and technical assistance. This is also done to strengthen the rural economy and to make the beneficiary of the Cheyutha scheme the stakeholders in their businesses. The AP YSR Cheyutha Scheme will be executed under Women government assistance leading body of Andhra Pradesh.
Eligibility Criteria
The applicant must be a woman resident of Andhra Pradesh state and belong to the minority communities. The applicant must be above the age of 45 years and below the age of 60 years.
Through this scheme, the Government of Andhra Pradesh wants to promote entrepreneurship among women.
