Ananya Pandey drug case: The actor was questioned for two hours on Thursday by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).
The agency also raided her home in Mumbai and reportedly seized her laptop and mobile phone as part of its investigation into the drugs-on-cruise case in which Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan and others have been arrested.
Pandey has been called again by the anti-drug agency for questioning on Friday at 11 am. The actor went to the NCB on Thursday with her father Chunky Pandey. As per reports, the actor was allegedly featured in WhatsApp chats of one of the accused in the drug case which came to light a rave party on October 2.
The NCB officer has clarified, "Just because she is being questioned does not mean she's an accused." Aryan Khan, his friend Arbaaz Merchant and many others were arrested earlier this month after the NCB conducted raids on a ship. According to media reports, there was no drug found on Aryan Khan and the case against him is based on his WhatsApp chats.
Ananya Pandey and Khan have been known to be part of a group of Bollywood star kids. Khan's sister, Suhana Khan is close friends with Pandey. Ever since the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, the ant-drugs agency has been probing a nexus of drugs in Bollywood circles. Many prominent names have been mentioned in the case earlier. Children of actors are the latest targets of the agency.
Shah Rukh Khan's son has been in custody since October 8 and has been denied bail multiple times since then. The NCB has said that the WhatsApp chats of Khan reveal his alleged involvement in "illicit drug activities". Though there was no drugs found on him but the court was informed by the agency that six grams of charas was found in his friend Merchant's shoe and Khan allegedly knew about it. The court said, "it can be said that it was in conscious possession of both the accused".
The special court said: "WhatsApp chats prima facie reveals accused Aryan Khan is dealing in illicit drug activities for narcotic substances on regular basis."
It also said the chats revealed a "nexus of the Accused no 1 (Aryan Khan) with suppliers and peddlers".
"Evidence on record shows the accused are part of a larger network. Since the accused are part of the conspiracy, each of them is liable for the entire quantity of drugs seized. And that the case of each accused can't be segregated from each other and can't be considered in isolation".
