Later in 2018, Heard wrote an op-ed, in the Washington Post, headlined- “I spoke up against sexual violence — and faced our culture’s wrath. That has to change” Even though Depp wasn't named in the article, the wife-beater and abuser tag caused him major losses in his personal and professional life. Denying all these accusations, Depp sued Heard and filed a defamation case for 50 million dollars and Amber countersued him for 100 million dollars. Depp won and was awarded $15 million in damages by the Virginia court.
