'Standing Up For Myself Was Proper,' Amber Heard In Her First Interview After Libel Trial

"I think no matter what, it will mean something. I did the right thing," Heard said. "I did everything I could to stand up for myself and the truth," the actor was seen saying in the interview with Savannah Guthrie

Amber Heard has stated that "standing up" for herself in the defamation action against ex-spouse Johnny Depp was the "proper thing" to do. Heard also discussed the future and if she will tell her daughter all about what she went through in her first interview since the verdict in Depp's favour.

NBC's TODAY Show shared clips of the interview on Twitter as a teaser. "How do you see your future now?" host Savannah Guthrie asked Heard in one of the clips. Heard is seen responding, "I get to be a mom, like, full time, you know? Where I'm not having to juggle calls with lawyers."

"One day you may want to tell your daughter about this," the host is further said in the clip. "Or have to tell your daughter about everything you've gone through. What would you want to say?"

The jury awarded The Pirates of the Caribbean actor $15 million in damages, but due to a Virginia rule restricting punitive damages, Heard will only have to pay $10.35 million (the judge reduced the amount). Heard was awarded $2 million in damages in her countersuit.
