Teachers are often seen going that extra mile to motivate their students to perform better. A Selvakumari, a teacher at Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Government Higher Secondary School in Ambattur, Chennai used a portion of her savings to take two of her students to Coimbatore by air.
Two of her students H Yamuna and P Saranya scored full marks in social science in Class X board exams. Both the meritorious girls belong to economically backward families and had never boarded a plane before.
The plane ride was a reward for their hard work that they had been putting all those months.

Saranya's father works as a daily-wage labourer. He was against the idea of sending his daughter on the flight alone. He asked her daughter to the get the reward in cash. The girl managed to convince her father but her grandmother's demise put her plans on hold.
But luck favoured her and she went to Coimbatore on September 21.
