A class X student, Saumya Dubey, from Uttar Pradesh got a golden opportunity to play the role of the Station House Officer(SHO) for a day, at the Civil Lines Police Station in Sangam City, Allahabad. She was felicitated by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Allahabad, Anand Kulkarni, on Independence day.
Saumya Dubey is a student of the Tagore Public School, Attarsuiya. She bagged the first position in an Essay Writing Competition organised by the police department. The competition was held at the auditorium of Reserve Police line on August 8 with the theme, "A society without Police". A total of 25 children from different prestigious schools had penned down their views on the same topic. Prof. Jaya Kapoor of English department of Allahabad University checked their copies.

After taking charge, Saumya interacted with police officials, got acquainted with the working of police. Further, she got to know about various problems that the cops grapple with on a daily basis.
Talking to TOI, Saumya said, "After becoming station house office for a day, I interacted with police officials to understand as to how cops work at police stations, especially how to lodge FIR or NCR regarding any crime incident."
Saumya monitored the routine and other works of the cops closely, She got to know about different services, such as Dial 100, 1090 women power, online FIR monitoring, and CCTNS. Besides this, she got an insight into different ranks in the police department after holding the charge and basics of policing like control room\wireless set, General Diary, as well as cyber crime.

She wishes every individual to be disciplined and work for the betterment of the society.
After getting a taste of being a SHO for a day, Saumya Dubey now aspires to be an IPS officer. Saumya is committed to scoring well in her Class X, therefore she doesn't use Facebook or Twitter. She only uses Whatsapp for communication purposes.
