As the Kingdom eagerly anticipates the second season of the all-female racing series, the F1 Academy race is set to kick off from March 6 to 8 in Jeddah, preceding the Formula 1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. This groundbreaking event, introduced by Formula 1 in 2022, aims to spotlight and nurture the talents of female racers aged 25 and under. At the helm of the F1 Academy is Susie Wolff, managing director and spouse of Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff, who fosters a dynamic platform for emerging female drivers, drawing from some of the world's best talents.

In a notable shift, all 10 Formula 1 teams will rally behind one driver each, showcasing their team's livery on the racing car. Distinguished brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, Puma, and Charlotte Tilbury have joined hands to sponsor the remaining drivers. 

The Powerhouses on the Grid: Meet the Five Teams

The F1 Academy grid features five teams: Rodin Motorsport, Prema Racing, Campos Racing, ART Grand Prix, and MP Motorsport. Unlike Formula One, each team will field three drivers, a testament to the expanding scope and inclusivity of the all-female racing series.

Returning Champions and Rising Stars: The Drivers

Nine out of the 15 drivers from the inaugural season are set to return, showcasing a blend of experience and fresh talent. Notable among them are Emirati sisters Hamda and Amna Al-Qubaisi, both supported by Red Bull, adding an extra layer of excitement to the competition.

The 2024 F1 Academy season promises an exhilarating journey across three continents, featuring seven rounds over ten months. Commencing at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, the series will travel to iconic venues such as the Miami International Autodrome, Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Zandvoort in the Netherlands, Marina Bay in Singapore, Lusail in Qatar, and culminate at Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi.

  • Round 1: March 6–8, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

  • Round 2: May 2-4  Miami, US

  • Round 3: June 20–22, Barcelona, Spain

  • Round 4: Aug. 22–24, Zandvoort, Netherlands (Circuit Zandvoort)

  • Round 5: Sept. 19–21, Marina Bay, Singapore (Marina Bay Street Circuit)

  • Round 6: Nov. 28–30, Lusail, Qatar (Lusail International Circuit)

  • Round 7: Dec. 5-7  Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi (Yas Marina Circuit)

Understanding the Points System

Each race weekend will consist of a qualifying round and two races, with points awarded to the top 10 drivers, mirroring the Formula 1 point distribution. The unique scoring system allows drivers to accumulate a maximum of 56 points per weekend, while teams compete for a total of 122 points. 

The all-female 2024 F1 Academy race promises to be a thrilling and historic event, bringing together talent, diversity, and fierce competition on the global stage. As the series unfolds, it is poised to leave a lasting impact on the world of motorsports, inspiring a new generation of female racers.
