Alka Yagnik Becomes Top Artist Globally On YouTube!

As we enter the new year, we see most of the music platforms have wrapped up our playlist for the year 2022, denoting the most played artists. Similarly, YouTube recently declared the 56-year-old Indian musician Alka Yagnik as the most streamed artist of 2022. While Udit Narayan, Arijit Singh, Kumar Sanu and Shilpi Raj bagged places among the top 5 list. With around 12.3b views, the decades-old singer Alka Yagnik has not surprised us as she once again bagged a place in the top five artists.

With most of the evergreen songs sung along with sensational singers like Udit Narayan and Kumar Sanu, her hit list includes some blockbuster songs like Mera Dil Bhi Kitna Pagal Hai, Tip Tip Barsa Paani, Ae Mere Humsafar, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and so on.

With an average of 42 million streams per day last year, Yagnik becomes the top YouTube artist with around 12.3b streams in 2022. In 2021 it was a whopping 17 billion and the year preceding that aided her 16.6 billion, as provided by the Guinness World Records. While for Udit Narayan it was 8.6 billion streams, Arijit Singh was at 7.9 billion and Kumar Sanu and Shilpa Raj shared a close tie with 7.5 and 7.3 billion streams respectively. The legendary female single Lata Mangeshkar was also positioned at no. 7 with around 6.3 billion streams.

In fact, not only in India, she has been globally declared as the artist of the year. With this Alka Yagnik becomes a top artist globally. Meanwhile, Maan Meri Jaan and Besharam Rang have also been featured in the top 5 global songs for last year.

With more than four successful decades as a playback singer in Bollywood, she has recorded over 8000 songs in her entire career until now. In her prestigious list of awards, she has won several accolades including seven Filmfare Awards out of a record of thirty-six nominations, two National Film Awards and two Bengal Film Journalists’ Association Awards.
