In a shocking incident, a man set his mother ablaze and filmed her burning inside the police station in Uttar Pradesh. The son, Gaurav, set his mother, Hemlata, on fire inside Khair police station in Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh. The incident took place on July 16 around 2 pm. Hemlata suffered from 40 per cent burns and could not survive.
As per the reports, Hemlata rushed to the Khair police station after her son doused her with petrol. Later, Gaurav followed her and set her ablaze. The police have claimed that the man was the woman's son.
Even more terrifying is the fact that Gaurav recorded his mother suffering due to the fire. People around tried to help the woman by throwing sand and getting gunny sacks. A police officer too got burn injuries while trying to save Hemlata.
How the incident took place
She was immediately rushed to the hospital but she succumbed to her burn injuries.
The woman was holding the lighter in her hand to prevent her son from setting her ablaze. While the police were trying to take the lighter, it fell on the ground and Gaurav picked it up and set his mother ablaze while recording everything on the mobile phone.
"On 16th July, information was received from Khair PS that a woman was set ablaze by her son in front of the Station's gate. Taking swift action, the fire was doused off and the woman was rushed to a hospital," said Circle Officer of Khair Police Station Rajeev Dwivedi.
The circle officer further added, "The woman's son has been detained and he is being questioned."
The entire incident was captured in the CCTV camera which became a strong evidence of the case. Gaurav has been detained and is undergoing interrogation.
What was the reason behind the ghastly crime?
The SSP said that the incident stemmed from a land dispute between two parties against which Hemlata had filed an FIR. On the day of the incident, both the parties fighting for the land reached the police station to resolve the conflict. However, no solution could be decided. So everyone walked out of the police station including Hemlata.
However, when she returned, her son set her on fire.
