Alexis Sharkey Death: Friends Allege Instagram Influencer Had Marital Troubles, Husband Denies Claims

Details about the life of social media influencer and rising Instagram star Alexis Sharkey, who was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Texas, are coming to light as friends and family speak up. The body of 26-year-old Sharkey, who went missing a day after Thanksgiving, was discovered this weekend on a Houston road approximately three miles from her apartment. While an investigation into her death is still underway, friends of the influencer have come forward to reveal that she had allegedly been having marital troubles and was "scared for her life" in the days leading up to her death.

The deceased, who got married to 49-year-old Tom Sharkey a year ago, had reportedly opened up to friends about the couple's marital issues, including physical and verbal abuse. “He strangles me and chokes me out and I blackout and wake up on the bathroom floor every single time,” Sharkey’s friend recalled her saying once. Some even claimed the couple was headed towards a divorce. Tom Sharkey has denied all allegations being levied against him.

Friends And Family Remember Alexis Sharkey

Alexis Sharkey, a self-proclaimed mentor and a social media influencer known for her expertise in skincare and beauty, was popular for posting pictures from her travels, with her girlfriends, and husband.

Stacy Robinault, her mother, said that Sharkey had left home on the Friday after Thanksgiving, following an argument. Alleging "foul play" in her daughter's death, she said, "The way in which she was found – my child would never do that to herself."

Husband Tom Sharkey, as quoted in New York Post, has claimed, "We didn’t fight when she left,” Tom said. “I just told her she couldn’t drive under the influence … She left anyhow. This is where we’re at.” Denying all other allegations of divorce, he said, "She wasn’t happy. She was stressed. I would cuddle her to try to make her strong. She was an amazing woman." He also adds that he has been receiving death threats in the aftermath of his wife's death, but "I don't need to set the record straight. I'll let it play out the way it is."

Friends of the late influencer have claimed Sharkey had revealed that her husband could be "controlling and manipulative." One even recalled a trip where "she confided in me about how worried she was for her safety." However, her friends have withheld the name of the person Sharkey was scared of, to avoid interference in the investigation.

Background On The Alexis Sharkey Death Case

According to the family, the news that Alexis Sharkey was missing only reached them when her husband called to tell them on Saturday. Alarms were raised further when Sharkey’s friends, whom she was supposed to meet at the movies on Saturday, said she wasn’t responding to their calls or texts.

Sharkey’s body was reportedly found on Saturday around 8:30 a.m, by some city workers along the side of a service road. Read more here.
