Ajit Pawar Fires Doctor: Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar fired a doctor who allegedly molested a female patient. The incident reportedly took place in a COVID-19 care centre in Aurangabad.
Pawar spoke about the incident during the Maharashtra State Assembly session. "A doctor who allegedly tried to molest a woman patient at a COVID-19 care centre in Aurangabad has been removed from service after a preliminary probe into the incident," he said. He also assured that the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for COVID-19 centres and hospitals will be formalised before March 31 to prevent such "unfortunate incidents."
The patient was from Padampura, Aurangabad and had been admitted to the COVID-19 care centre. She had complained about how a doctor harassed her via phone calls and molested her early in the morning on Wednesday.
It was BJP MLA Manisha Chaudhary how raised up the issue in the legislative assembly by saying that such incidents at COVID-19 centres are common. "Such cases are unfortunate. People don't fear the government. We demand immediate response from the state Home minister," she said.
Ajit Pawar Responds To Devendra Fadnavis' Concerns
Devendra Fadnavis, the former CM of Maharashtra said that he had already written four letters to the current CM regarding such incidents in COVID-19 care centres. He then elaborated that he never got any replies to his letters, and that the SOPs for the centres weren't published. Ajit Pawar then took this opportunity to assure that stringent SOPs will be published soon.
