Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will soon become the first female actor ever in the world to hoist the tricolour at the annual ceremony of a special segment of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2017.
IFFM is all set to kick off from August 10-22, and the “Jazbaa” actress will be a part of the film festival as a special guest.
According to the reports, in celebration of the 70th Indian Independence Day, Ash will be hoisting the Indian national flag at the prestigious Federation Square building on August 12.
The director of the festival, Mitu Bhowmick-Lange, stated, "IFFM is proud to welcome one of India’s most loved and iconic actors – Aishwarya Rai Bachchan – to the festival and look forward to celebrating Indian cinema in Australia," Indian Express reported.
"Aishwarya will be also walking the red carpet as a special guest at the star-studded awards night to be held on August 11 at Melbourne’s Recital Centre," said Bhomick-Lange
The 43-year-old actress, since her comeback in the industry, has made us fall in love with her once again with “Jazbaa” and iconic film like "Sarbjit", where she essayed the character of Dalbir Kaur — the sister of convict Sarabjit Singh.

She is currently working on 'Fanney Khan', where she would be playing the role of a glamorous singer, co-starring with Anil Kapoor.
The festival will last for 13 days and it will also hold a premiere of Alankrita Shrivastava’s 'Lipstick Under My Burkha' for the Australians. Other than Aishwarya, celebrities like Karan Johar, Raveena Tandon, Simi Garewal, Konkona Sen Sharma, Rahul Bose, Rajkummar Rao, Dangal director Nitesh Tiwari, Shootjit Sircar will also be attending the festival in Melbourne.
