The former JNU leader and current CPI(M) candidate who contested for this year's West Bengal polls has called out the University's decision to "intimidate and punish students" after a show-cause notice was issued in her name in connection with the 2018 protests.

- Hailing from West Bengal, Ghosh has two siblings, one of them who is presently doing her undergraduate at Shyama Prasad Mukherji College in New Delhi.
- After pursuing a degree in Political Science from Daulat Ram College under the Delhi University, Ghosh is currently pursuing a master of philosophy from Jawaharlal Nehru University.
- Ghosh made her entry into the world of politics during JNU’s fee hike protests in 2018, grabbing national attention. When reformed policies and fee structures made JNU the costliest central university in India, Ghosh along with several other students was at the frontline of agitations demanding a rollback.
- During the January 5 violence that prevailed in JNU allegedly by the student opposition Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, a youth wing aligned to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), a picture of her injured condition went viral that provoked calls for action against campus violence.

- When Ghosh wanted to address an on-campus meeting in February 2020, she was denied permission by two state-run universities in Kolkata. She was also not allowed by a district administration in West Bengal to hold a rally in West Burdwan.
- Ghosh who was the 2021 West Bengal election's CPI(M) candidate from Jamuria, a Vidhan Sabha constituency, contesting against Hareram Singh from All India Trinamool Congress. She lost the election to Singh.
