A woman who rented her house for the first time on Airbnb in London was allegedly raped by a 43-year-old man who was her first guest. The woman felt "strange" when the accused guest booked the room despite living just 12 miles away in Kensington.
The guest allegedly offered the woman a massage and then allegedly sexually assaulted and raped her. Before leaving the following morning he also allegedly promised to "leave good review". However, the man has denied all charges and pleaded not guilty.
Airbnb Host Allegedly Raped By Guest
Defendant Diego Dellarovere, a 43-year-old graphic designer and trained Reiki therapist pleaded not guilty to all charges in a case where a woman alleged the man had sexually assaulted the woman when she rented a room of her house to the accused man in May 2021 in Croydon.
In a police interview played for the jury of Croydon County Court where the woman expressed she felt "strange" about Dellarovere booking the room despite living just 12 miles away in Kensington but she anyway accepted the booking and claimed he was her first guest.
What Happened?
The woman told the detectives that she had poured the glass of wine for both of them when Dellarovere arrived. The woman shared he mentioned offering a massage and was coming very close to her and rubbing her shoulders when she said "No Thanks."
She continued narrating the incident where when she was sitting on the couch with Dellarovere he was touching her legs and asked her to put on spa music so he could give her a massage telling her he had oils as well. The woman shared she sensed he was looking at her and was not just wanting a small talk, claiming that's when things took a sour turn.
'I was saying No quite a lot'
The woman alleged that the man began with licking and kissing her neck but she forcefully pushed him away. The woman told the police I was saying ‘no’ quite a lot and pushing and he stuck his tongue in my mouth and moved from there to my breast and his hand went down inside my leggings.”
The woman then shared that the alleged accused guest then sexually assaulted and raped her. The incident took place in Croydon in 2021.
The woman shared she then rushed and locked herself in her room and barricaded with knives and her dog and a cat when Dellarovere texted her that he was sorry and that she was angry but then walked away from her room as he had a set of keys.
The woman also alleged that he returned to her room's doorstep at 2 am and went to sleep in the spare room. The following morning before checking out he allegedly told her that he would "leave a good review."
The woman shared that she earlier thought of reporting the incident to Airbnb officials but then she realised that the alleged accused was likely going to do that to someone else again and hence decided to lodge an official police complaint as she wanted his name to be "flagged".
However, Dellarovere has denied all allegations of sexually assaulting, orally raping, and penetrating the woman forcefully in her apartment on May 7, 2021, in Croydon. But the trial continues, as per the New York Post.
