Ex-AIADMK leader VK Sasikala's returns to Tamil Nadu with her car displaying the AIADMK flag. She did this despite being warned by the Krishnagiri police against it. Sasikala is returning to Chennai after spending some time at the Prestige Golfshire Club in Bengaluru, where she was recovering after her COVID-19 diagnosis and release from jail.
VK Sasikala was seen sporting a green saree, which was the favourite colour of former TN chief minister and her mentor Jayalalithaa. The former secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party was welcomed by a huge crowd who threw flower petals at her convoy and danced alongside it. About 100 police personnel were posted at Nazarethpet which is located at the outskirts of Chennai.
On January 31 too, the AIADMK flag was spotted on Sasikala's car when she returned home after being tread for COVID-19.
The police had demanded that only five vehicles would be allowed in Sasikala's convoy, but her advocate disregarded the demand. He said that the police never gave such terms and conditions before and that they would face the "flag issue in court."
Sasikala's Return Causes A Stir Within The AIADMK
VK Sasikala served a four-year prison sentence for her involvement in a Rs 66.65 crore disproportionate assets case. She was released from prison on 27 January 2021. It is being said that her return to Tamil Nadu might influence the upcoming Tamil Nadu elections in May. However, because of her jail term, she cannot contest in elections for the next six years.
On January 31 too, the AIADMK flag was spotted on Sasikala's car when she returned home after being tread for COVID-19. The Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMCRI, Victoria Hospital) declared that Sasikala was fit to be discharged on Saturday. However, after consulting an astrologer, she decided to get discharged Jan 31after noon. Read more on this here.
