Agra Woman Divorces Husband Over Forgotten Kurkure Packet

The couple had been married for more than a year, and the husband had previously tolerated his wife's unusual Kurkure addiction. The husband had previously voiced concern about his wife's snacking habits. However, things got out of hand when the husband forgot to bring the Kurkure packet.

The dispute gradually escalated, and the wife left for her parents' home. Within the next two days, the wife went to the Shahganj police station and filed for divorce. The police originally sent the couple for counselling, but they were unable to resolve their differences. The husband claims that their marital problems stemmed from their Kurkure addiction, while the woman has accused him of domestic abuse. The police are currently investigating.

Because of the unusual circumstances of the divorce, the story swiftly became trending on social media. Several netizens urged that the wife seek medical attention if she believes she needs to divorce her husband over a Kurkure packet. Some believe that there is more to the story because the woman accused the husband of hitting her. Most, however, found the situation amusing, with several joking about the flavour of Kukure the husband had forgotten to bring home.

Kurkure is one of the most popular spicy Indian snacks launched by PepsiCo. in 1999 and several concerns about the salt content in the snack had been previously raised. In 2015, the food safety authorities tested Kurkure for the safety of its ingredients. Following this, in 2018, PepsiCo revealed their plans to reduce the salt content in Kurkure.

According to the health blog, The Wellness Corner, the sodium content in the Kurkure is way too high to the point where patients with diabtetes and hypertension are actively discouraged from consuming it. Consumption of Kurkure has also been linked to kidney problems, gastric troubles and lung failures. The snack is also known for its low nutritional value, and doctors and medical practitioners discourage the consumption of Kurkure by people with low energy levels.
