A 25-year-old medical student who was reported missing since Tuesday evening and was found dead in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday morning. Originally from Delhi, the medical student studied at Agra’s SN Medical College. According to the police, her family has accused a doctor, who is currently practising in Jalaun, in connection with her death.
The incident was reported from Agra and her body was found near her college. “On Tuesday, the victim’s family had filed a kidnapping report against an unknown accused after they could not establish contact with her," Ashok Kumar, station house officer of Dauki, said before the initial investigation, Indian Express reported. The family has alleged a doctor of harassing their daughter and he has been taken into custody, said the police. The accused was identified as Dr Vivek Tiwari who hails from Kanpur. He works in Jalaun city, about 220 km from state capital Lucknow.
"The family of the woman told police that a medical officer - a doctor from Jalaun - was harassing her and had even threatened her," Babloo Kumar, a police officer from Agra, told NDTV.

After the family identified the body, found from a highway near the Bamrauli Katara, it was sent for postmortem. A primary investigation suggested that the deceased was 25 and had injuries on her head and neck. "The injury marks indicated struggle. We are trying to recover CCTV footage from the nearby areas," the police officer was quoted saying after investigating the nature of the injuries. They also claimed that her hands and face were injured too and that it could indicate a struggle prior to the murder. The victim was reportedly attacked by a sharp object.
According to News18 report, the deceased's colleagues said that she was a gynecologist and was also a part of the COVID-19 team in the state. Her brother had first suspected the doctor and filed a complaint at the M.M. Gate police station. He claimed that his sister was abducted. After he was taken into custody, the doctor, who was a year senior to the girl, gave his statement, police said.

While the police are still investigating, Ashok Kumar said that "arresting will be carried out after due investigation.”
Police are also checking a CCTV footage recovered from the spot of the crime which allegedly shows her abduction on Tuesday.
SP leader Akhilesh Yadav tweeted, "The incident of abduction and murder of a female doctor at the SN Medical College in Agra is tragic. Under the BJP rule, the woman of the state is neither safe in the cities nor the township nor in the village. It seems that now crime is ruling UP."
