Stormy Daniels, who claims she had an affair with Donald Trump in 2006, is now upping the ante with a legal fight. She filed a lawsuit against the US president on April 30 for defamation, reported Economic Times.
Lawsuit over defamatory tweet by Trump
Stormy Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, earlier said she was threatened by a man in a Las Vegas car park to drop her allegations of an affair with Trump. On April 18, Trump in a tweet dismissed a composite sketch that Daniels claimed was the man who warned her not to talk about the alleged sexual encounter with Trump.
Trump said: "A sketch years later about a nonexistent man. A total con job, playing the Fake News Media for Fools (but they know it)!"

In the lawsuit, Daniels claims that the tweet was false and defamatory. It also argued, in the tweet Trump was speaking about Daniels and he was well aware that his false and derogatory statement would not only be read by people around the world but also will be widely reported. The lawsuit also claims that Daniels has been exposed to death threats and other threats of physical violence.
Moments ago, we filed this lawsuit against Mr. Trump for his recent irresponsible and defamatory statements about my client @stormydaniels. He is well aware of what transpired and his complicity. We fully intend on bringing it to light. #buckleup #bastahttps://t.co/ZuBjI1EY9z

Her attorney Michael Avenatti said, "We intend on teaching Mr. Trump that you cannot simply make things up about someone and disseminate them without serious consequences."
Daniels is already suing to be released from a non-disclosure deal that she had agreed to days before the 2016 election in exchange for $130,000. The payment was made by the president's personal lawyer, Michael Cohen. Cohen asked for a delay after FBI agents raided his home and office several weeks ago. The FBI was seeking records about the nondisclosure agreement.
The Trump "affair"
The adult film star said that she had an affair with President Trump in 2006 months after his wife Melania gave birth to their son Barron.
Daniels used her first television interview to discuss the alleged affair to reveal she signed a non-disclosure agreement in 2016. She said she signed the agreement just weeks before the presidential election. She did it in fear of potential physical harm. She was concerned about her family and their safety.
Trump faces a number of allegations about his sexual exploits long before he ran for president. The White House says Trump did not have a sexual encounter with Daniels, and the president has denied other allegations as well.
