National Popcorn Day 2022 will be celebrated on January 19th however, according to magazines from the 1980s, it occurs on January 31st, not January 19th. Since January 19, 1980, National Popcorn Day has always seemed to fall on the same day as the Super Bowl. Finally, in 2003, a new publication declared January 19th to be National Popcorn Day, and the date has stayed ever since!
Popcorn is the most popular snacking option among people and can be made fast, whether you're visiting a movie theatre or having a game night. It is one of the most widely consumed snack foods on the planet. Popcorn can be buttery and crispy, and it can be sweet or salty or caramelly-sea sality.
The days we went to see a movie at a theater or movie hall, we had an unquenchable desire for popcorn. It's something that pulls people towards it in the same way that a magnet attracts iron. Did you know there is a national popcorn day?
Here's a fun timeline of National Popcorn Day :
- Popcorn's first documented use ( 3600 b.c )
While it is unknown how far back in human history popcorn can be traced, evidence from a New Mexico cave suggests that popped corn kernels were used more than 5000 years ago.

The industrial revolution spurs the construction of a machine to undertake the labour when settlers in the early US colonies hear about the habit of popping corn from native peoples. Chicago's Charles Cretors created a mobile popcorn machine with a gas burner that can travel the streets and serve pedestrians and moviegoers.
- The patent for the microwave popcorn bag (1981)
The General Mills patent for microwave popcorn bags was authorised, making popcorn even faster and easier to eat. In the years that follow, the snack's consumption grows by hundreds of pounds.
- Super Bowl Sunday falls on National Popcorn Day ( 1988)
National Popcorn Day, which was announced in The Chicago Sun-Times and other publications, is set for January 31st, presumably to coincide with Super Bowl celebrations being held around the country.

No one knows why it was moved, but a newspaper in Brownfield, Texas, reports that National Popcorn Day has been rescheduled for January 19. And it appears that this date will be kept!
