All actresses attending the 2018 Golden Globes awards will be wearing black. Presenters and nominees like Jessica Chastain, Mary J Blige and Meryl Streep will be wearing all black to protest against harassment in Hollywood.
The award ceremony will air on Sunday, January 7th 2018.
Stars also took a stand at the Emmys. Many of them wore blue ribbons to show their support for the American Civil Liberties Union and the Stand With The ACLU initiative. Some stars even wore safety pins to show their support for marginalised groups after Trump was elected.
This year saw a flood of sexual harassment allegations against top Hollywood moguls. Starting with producer Harvey Weinstein, the list goes on to include Kevin Spacey, filmmaker Brett Ratner, comedian Louis CK, music producer Russell Simmons, actor Geoffrey Rush, director James Toback, actor Jeffrey Tambor and agent Adam Veni.
Actresses like Lupita Nyong’o, Julia Roberts and Salma Hayek have spoken out against Weinstein, who was fired from Motion Pictures Academy following allegations against him.
We can’t wait to feast on the actresses ensembles next month.
Last year many celebrities spoke out against Trump. Meryl Streep's speech was a big hit.
She spoke about the one performance of the year that stunned her the most, and that sank her heart. She was referring to the time when Trump mocked a reporter for his disabilities.
“It was that moment when the person asking to sit in the most respected seat in our country imitated a disabled reporter. Someone he outranked in privilege, power and the capacity to fight back.”
She said that Trump’s actions broke her heart and she couldn’t get it out of her head. It wasn’t a movie, it was real life.
Last year there were plenty of feminist moments at the Golden Globes. Actors came forward to spread positive messages about inclusion especially after Trump's election. We can't wait to see what the stars have to say this year.
