Who Was Noor Malabika Das?
Noor Malabika Das was an emerging actor in Hindi film and television. On June 6, the Oshiwara police were informed about a foul smell coming from the Assam-origin actor's apartment in Lokhandwala, Mumbai. The cops made a forced entry into her flat where her body was found hanging from the ceiling fan, according to reports.
The police have ruled the cause of death as suicide but are still investigating the case. According to the news portal Mid-Day, the police surveyed the actor's house and collected medicines, her mobile phone, and a diary. The actress' body was taken to Siddharth Hospital in Goregaon for a post-mortem.
Reportedly, despite efforts to contact Das' family, no one came forward, and therefore, the police performed her last rites with the assistance of a non-profit organisation which handles the cremation of unclaimed bodies in the city. “We spoke to her family. They had returned to their native place two weeks ago,” an officer told Mid-Day.
According to Das' close friend, actor Aloknath Pathak, Das' family had been living with her in the rented flat until last month. As per reports, the All Indian Cine Workers Association has called on Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis to conduct a thorough probe into the alleged suicide case.
