After Cancer, Actor Chhavi Mittal Battles With Costochondritis

Actor Chhavi Mittal who battled breast cancer in 2022 has now been diagnosed with costochondritis. Mittal took to Instagram to inform her fans about what the condition is.

The actor gained prominence through her roles in series like Bandini and the YouTube production The Better Half. Additionally, she is also a prominent standing person behind the web show titled SIT.

Mittal shared an image on Instagram from one of her workout sessions and captioned it, "I've got a new addition to the list of ailments in the market: it's called costochondritis. Quite fancy, isn't it? (It's a chest cartilage injury.) The possible triggers could be radiation (related to cancer treatment), a side effect from the injection I took for osteopenia (a condition with low bone mineral density), a persistent cough I had a few days ago, or perhaps a combination of these factors or more. I experience discomfort when breathing, using my hand or arm, lying down, sitting, laughing, or basically with almost everything."

She went on to say, "No, I'm not perpetually optimistic about it, but I'm seldom pessimistic. So, clutching my chest, I headed to the gym (my happiest place) because you know what? We all face setbacks, but do we rise again? Well, I certainly do! For those who need to hear this... I understand that you're grappling with some form of suffering, but you're not alone! And remember, this difficult phase will eventually pass."

What Is Costochondritis?

Costochondritis involves the inflammation of the cartilage connecting a rib to the breastbone. The discomfort stemming from costochondritis can resemble the pain associated with a heart attack or other cardiac issues.

The exact cause of Costochondritis is often uncertain. Nevertheless, it could potentially be linked to factors like injuries, illnesses, or physical stressors, such as intense bouts of coughing.

Costochondritis predominantly manifests in women aged 40 and above. Tietze syndrome commonly presents itself among teenagers and young adults, affecting both men and women at an equal rate.

Mittal's Battle With Cancer

Mittal disclosed in April 2022 that she had been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer. Following her diagnosis, she underwent surgery and received radiation therapy within the same month. Eventually, she announced that she had successfully overcome cancer.
