Acid Attack: Ahmedabad Man Booked For Throwing Acid On Wife And Daughter; Wife Critical

A 50-year-old man, Babu Thokar has been accused of attacking his wife and daughter with acid at Ekaldevnagar in the Vejalpur area of Ahmedabad. The 45-year-old woman and her 21-year-old daughter were rushed to the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital on Monday after the incident. As per reports, Babu's wife had separated from him sometime back.

According to the police, the incident took place at 3 am in the night,  Thakor reportedly threw acid at his wife and their daughter when they were asleep.

The daughter has filed a complaint at the Vejalpur police station in which she stated, “Around 7 pm on Sunday evening, I, my mother and younger brother Vishnu had gone near Salpara railway crossing area to celebrate Dussehra. My father arrived there and started assaulting my mother… We went home and went to sleep around 3 am. After a few moments, my mother woke us up yelling and we saw that a chemical had been splashed on her face and chest. I had also suffered burn injuries on my right hand due to the acid attack. We then checked from our house’s window and saw our father fleeing from the society,” quoted by The Indian Express.

She further alleged that her father used to beat her mother over petty issues and blamed her for having an affair with several men. One day, fed up with all this she left his house and started living in a nearby society with her daughter and two sons.

The police has booked Babu Thakor under IPC sections 326 (a) for acid attack, 498 (a) for harassment of women, and 323 for causing hurt. His wife who has suffered burns on her face, neck, breasts, and other areas is said to be in a critical condition and is admitted to the civil hospital’s ICU ward, as reported by TOI. The police are searching for the accused who is absconding.
