In an appalling incident, an 80-year-old woman was allegedly raped when she was at home alone in Kharela village of Mahoba district in Uttar Pradesh. The horrifying incident reportedly took place on February 2, but came to light three days later.

- The incident happened on February 2, when the woman was alone in the house as her family members were out, attending a religious function.
- According to the reports, the family members found the woman crying and complaining of pain in her abdomen when they returned.
- That is when the woman told them that two persons entered the house from the terrace and raped her.
Uttar Pradesh sees many rape cases on a regular basis - The one of the two accused has been identified as Phoolchandra alias Phullu. The other accused is unnamed as of yet.
- Phullu allegedly raped her, while the other unidentified person helped him in the crime. Although the woman tried to raise her voice, she was unable to do so as they gagged her.
- The woman's grandson lodged an FIR against the accused on Thursday.
- When the police raided the house of Phool Chandra in the Jalalpur area, Hamirpur, they found that he, along with the other accused, had reportedly ran away from the village.
- Anil Kumar, the Station House Officer (SHO) in the area stated that have done the medical examination of the elderly woman and awaited the reports to confirm that 80 year old woman was raped.
- He further added that even though the accused were absconding, they had got information about their possible hideouts and they would be arrested soon.
- This is still a developing case and further information is yet to come out.
80 Year Old Woman Raped In Uttar Pradesh
The state is seeing a large number of cases of crimes against women. In terms of absolute numbers, Uttar Pradesh reported the highest number of cases in both these categories. But Assam reported the highest rate of crimes against women (per lakh population), while Rajasthan had the highest rate of crimes against Scheduled Castes.
