Sunny Leone Cheating Case: Bollywood actor Sunny Leone has once again come in the spotlight. A cheating case has been registered against her by an event management company which alleged that she accepted the payment for an event she didn't attend.
Leone has been questioned by the Kochi Crime Branch for her role in the fraud. Here are seven things to know about the Sunny Leone cheating case:
- R Shiyas, an event manager from Perumbavoor filed a complaint against Sunny Leone which claimed that the latter didn't attend an event after she was paid Rs 29 lakh. He also alleged that he had to pay the money in instalments from the year 2016 onwards.
- Leone was reportedly supposed to attend a few inaugural functions and a Valentine's Day function in Kochi in the year 2019.
- The actor was questioned by the Kerala police crime branch on Saturday while she was residing at the Poovar resort in Kerala. The police have said that a cheating case under Section 420 of IPC has been filed against her.
- The crime branch revealed that the event which Leone was supposed to attend was rescheduled five times. Besides that, the event organisers had failed to pay her Rs 12.5 lakh. The amount was supposed to be paid to her 10 days before the event was conducted.
- In 2019, Leone had tweeted that she couldn't attend Valentine's Day function as the event promoters and organisers were “defaulting on their commitments”.
6. Sunny Leone stated that she never cheated the manger "on purpose." Furthermore, a police official reported that Leone's manager had taken the money and tried to convince the Shiyas to conduct the event based on dates given by Leone. However, the event manager didn't agree to this.
7. The police will now be scrutinising the WhatsApp chats between Leone and the event manager so that a foolproof case of financial fraud can be filed against the accused.
