50-Year-Old Woman Gangraped By Three Youths In Jharkhand: Report

Three men allegedly gangraped a 50-year-old woman from Jharkhand’s Chatra district, leaving her in a critical condition. As per the police reports, the accused brutalised the survivor’s private parts with a steel tumbler. The incident took place late on Thursday night in Kobna village which comes under the Hunterganj police station area.

According to the FIR registered, the three accused men belonged to a neighbouring area. They forcefully entered the woman’s house who lived alone and allegedly gangraped her. Out of the three accused two have been arrested while the police are still searching for a third accused who is absconding.

“A widow was gangraped in Chatra district late night on January 7. After the incident took place, the police was informed in the morning and we have arrested two men. One is absconding and will be arrested soon. The woman’s private parts were injured,” said DIG, Hazaribagh Range, Amol Homkar, as per The Indian Express. A police source also said that there was an old dispute between the survivor and the accused youths.

The woman is currently being treated at Hunterganj Community Health Centre. As per the medical officer-in-charge, DrVed Prakash,  the survivor's condition is critical , as reported by News 18.

Recently, a 50-year-old woman who was an Anganwadi worker was allegedly gangraped and murdered by a priest and his two disciples inside a temple. The accused have been booked under Indian Penal Code sections 376-d (gang-rape) and 302 (murder) by Ughaiti police station in Badaun.

The post-mortem examination confirmed that the woman sustained several injuries including broken ribs, fractured legs and her lungs were attacked with a heavy object. Her private parts were “severely brutalised”, sources said. An autopsy report also revealed that an iron rod was inserted into her private parts. Read more about it here.
