Lok Sabha Polls 2024: 5 Women Candidates Leading With Great Margins

A total of 797 women contested the Lok Sabha elections. Some of the prominent women candidates leading in the contest include Kangana Ranaut, Hema Malini, Dimple Yadav and Misa Bharti.

As the Lok Sabha Election results are on their way, some women candidates are leading their way against their competitors. Female candidates such as Misha Bharti, Selja, Kangana Ranaut, Bansuri Swaraj, Hema Malini, Dimple Yadav, and Kangana Ranaut are leading their respective constituencies by a considerable margin. Amethi's incumbent MP Smriti Irani and Sultanpur MP Maneka Gandhi are among the MPs trailing by huge margins in their constituencies.

Here is the list of 5 Female candidates leading the board-

1. Hema Malini

MP and Actor Hema Malini, who contested from Uttar Pradesh's Mathura Lok Sabha seat is leading by 2,41,500 votes. She is up against Congress candidate Mukesh Dhangar The BJP MP contested from the seat for a third term in a row. In the 2019 Lok Sabha Polls, she retained her seat by defeating Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) candidate Kunwar Narendra Singh by a heavy margin of 2,93,471 votes.

2. Kangana Ranaut

In her electoral debut, Kangana Ranaut emerged victorious from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Ranaut defeated Vikramaditya Singh of the Congress by a margin of 72,088 votes. Despite Singh's previous experience in two assembly elections, this was his first bid for a parliamentary seat.

3. Dimple Yadav

The current Mainpuri MP, Dimple Yadav, from the Samajwadi Party had also held a sizable advantage of more than 2 lakh over Jayveer Singh of the BJP. Samajwadi Party and Congress finalized their pre-poll alliance in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. The Samajwadi Party received the remaining 63 seats, with the Congress receiving 17 seats to run for in the state as part of the agreement.

4. Bansuri Swaraj

As early results started to come in, Bansuri, a 15-year veteran lawyer who is continuing the tradition of her late mother, former Union minister Sushma Swaraj, was running a tight race against Somnath Bharti of the Aam Aadmi Party. In her first electoral contest, Bansuri Swaraj, the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is ahead by 68,334 votes in the Lok Sabha election from the New Delhi constituency, according to the ECI.

5. Mahua Moitra

The current Member of Parliament for Krishnanagar, West Bengal, Mahua Moitra, is also ahead by more than fifty thousand votes. In the general elections for the Lok Sabha in 2024, Mahua Moitra is the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate from West Bengal's 12th Lok Sabha constituency, which is called Krishnanagar (General). Eleven candidates are running for the Krishnanagar seat in the parliamentary elections of 2024.

A few other women leading are Supriya Sule, the sitting MP for Baramati, who was ahead by more than 20,000 votes. The current MP for Thoothukkudi, Kanimozhi Karunanidhi of the DMK, was leading her constituency by more than 2.5 lakh votes.
