This year, several young women defied odds to reach the zenith. Yes! They climbed insurmountable mountains and broke records. Let's go through some of the accomplishments Indian women made in the field of mountaineering this year.
1. Anshu Jamsenpa
Anshu Jamsenpa from Arunanchal Pradesh scripted history in May by becoming the only woman to climb Mt. Everest four times in a single season. She also set a record for a double ascent in a single season.
2. Anita Kundu
A Sub-Inspector in Haryana Police, Anita Kundu reportedly became the first Indian woman to climb Mt Everest from the Chinese side in May.

3. Poorna Malavath
Poorna Malavath, the youngest girl to conquer Mt.Everest, added another feather to her cap. She successfully scaled Europe’s highest peak – Mount Elbrus.

4. Aparna Kumar
Aparna Kumar, an IPS officer of the Uttar Pradesh Cadre, became the first Indian woman to climb Mt Manaslu (8,163 m) in September. Manaslu is the eighth highest peak in the world. She has already succeeded in climbing the highest peaks of six continents of the world. In May, last year, she climbed Mount Everest and then went on to climb Mount Vinson Massif, the highest peak in Antarctica.

5. G R Radhika
In September, G R Radhika scaled Mount Elbrus and became the first Indian woman to do so. She is the Additional Superintendent of Police, Chittoor district.
These young women have exhibited unparalleled strength by climbing some of the loftiest mountains. More power to you all!
