The gold medallists are Nitu (48kg), Jyoti Gulia (51kg), Sakshi Chaudhary (54kg), Shashi Chopra (57kg),  and Ankushita Boro (64kg)

Not just gold, India had earlier won two bronze medals as well. This year, by far, it was the biggest medal haul in the championship, followed by Russia (2 gold, 4 silver). Before this year's tournament, for India, the best was managing to sweep just two gold medals at the Youth World Championships.

"It was an easier final compared to the semifinals. I did not find it too tough to break through," said Nitu, one of the four Haryana finalists at the event, TOI reported.

Interestingly, while the women boxers are making waves now by putting India on the world map, all of them come from remote corners of the country and that’s empowering

On Sunday, the boxers put India on the world map. They surpassed records of some of the well-known champions.

“When she told us about boxing, we were a bit angry. She was a good dancer, so we would tell her to do that and discouraged boxing,” says Jyoti’s father Maman Singh, a farmer, Indian Express reported. She defeated Ekaterina Molchanova of Russia in her final.

Another good news is that Jyoti has also qualified for next year's Youth Olympic Games in Argentina. Her top finish secured her the special berth.

On top of that, Neha Yadav (+81kg) and Anupama (81kg) made it India's best ever performance at the marquee age group event by managing to add two more bronze medals in the tally.

"You are seeing the probable Olympic medallists for India at the Tokyo Olympics here. It has been a fantastic performance and Guwahati has been a fabulous host," Boxing Federation of India President Ajay Singh told PTI.

He also announced a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh each for all the gold medallists.
