2017 was witness to some dynamic young girls who broke records, created new ones, amazed the world with their academic brilliance and proved that age is just a number for them. These girls are ahead of their time and definitely an asset for the country.

1. 16-year-old Dilpreet Kaur
Popularly known as ‘Calculator Girl’, Dilpreet Kaur is a class 10 student in Kanpur. She has set 11 national and two world records in just a span of one year, by solving mathematical calculations in a minute.

2. 5-year-old Cherukuri Dolly Shivani
At the age of 5, she scripted history by firing 103 arrows from a distance of 10 metres in just 11 minutes and 19 seconds with a compounding bow and Indian arrows. With this, the young archer has registered her name in the India Book of Records and the Asia Book of Records.

3. 15-year-old Vinaya Seshan
This hip hop prodigy was the winner of the 2017 World Cup of Dance. Interestingly, she had won the World Cup in 2016 and 2015 also. She is a class 10 student of Inventure Academy in Bengaluru. She loves to dance, and hip hop is her gig.

4. 9-year-old Dhanshree Mehta
In June this year, Dhanshree Mehta became the youngest mountaineer from India to scale Mt. Elbrus. This 9-year-old is a passionate crusader of the campaign ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’.

5. 13-year-old Khushi
In June, this Mysuru girl made it to the Golden Book Of Records, setting a world record by performing the toughest yogasana 15 times in a minute.

These young girls and their accomplishments are a proof of the great heights girls can attain. What they require from society is an opportunity, support and belief that they are not inferior to anyone.
