Veteran Bollywood actor Reema Lagoo, who passed away on May 18 following a cardiac arrest, was renowned for the umpteen motherly roles she played.
In fact, it is difficult to imagine how the early 90's Bollywood era would have shaped up without her dynamic screen presence. The motherly love she showered on her children on-screen gave every movie the tinge of emotional drama required to connect with the audience.

1. Hum Saath Saath Hain
The movie saw Reema Lagoo play the quintessential mother struggling to ensure the well-being of her four kids. In the process, she ends up taking some extreme measures that disunites the family for a while but as the saying goes, "All is well that ends well". The family irons out its differences and is reunited again.
2. Hum Aapke Hain Kaun
The doting mother of two young daughters raised with a great value system, Reema wished to see both her daughters get married in good families.
3. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
Mothers know everything. Yes! While Reema wanted her daughter Anjali to tie the marital knot with Aman, deep down her heart, she knew that her daughter wasn't very keen on marrying him. Besides that, the movie also proved that a mother can have a great camaraderie with her son-in-law.
4. Vaastav
Mothers know how to bring their children back to the right track. In this movie, Reema Lagoo killed her son Sanjay Dutt who had started indulging in nefarious activities. The actress received a Filmfare Award for her performance in the film.
5. Kal Ho Na Ho
What's the most difficult thing for a mother to see? Watch her son suffer? Reema saw her son Aman battle through cancer. And worse, he even asked her to conceal the truth from everyone. She suffered silently while her son attempted to bring happiness in others' lives.
Reema Lagoo's death is an irreparable loss to art and cinema. She will forever be remembered as the favourite on-screen mom.
