36-Year-Old Sadhvi Gang-Raped On Gunpoint In Jharkhand Ashram

A 36-year-old woman Sadhvi was allegedly gang-raped inside an ashram on gunpoint in Jharkhand's Godda district on Tuesday. This incident took place when there were four sadhvis and a sadhu present in the ashram. Four accused forcibly entered the ashram which is located in Ranidih in the Muffasil police station area around 2 am. One of the accused, identified as Deepak Rana, has been arrested. 

The accused reportedly, locked the other inmates of the ashram in a room and allegedly raped the 36-year-old woman. The four men took turns to rape her at gunpoint. The sadhvi came to the ashram in February and because of the lockdown, she stayed on said Superintendent of Police YS Ramesh. 

“Taking action the police team has arrested one accused Deepak Rana, who has many previous criminal charges against him,” said the Superintendent of Police.

Reportedly, two other women present in the ashram were beaten up by the men before they took the survivor to another room.

The sadhu who was locked in another room informed locals about the incident. The accused fled from the place after committing the crime, the police said. The survivor lodged the complaint on Tuesday and subsequently, the investigation started.

An officer said that the woman was in a state of trauma the News 18 reported. The survivor has reportedly demanded capital punishment for the accused.

Now an 18-year-old has been arrested in connection with the gang-rape case as per reports. Police arrested the boy on Wednesday.  He is the second person to be arrested in connection with this case.  The main reason for this crime is yet to be investigated. Some locals suspect the reason to be a land dispute. 

Meanwhile, the opposition has accused the government of failing to handle the law and order situation in the state.

Similar Incident

In a similar incident, a 90-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a plumber in Delhi. A 37-year-old man allegedly raped the old woman on Tuesday. He took her to the farm and raped her.
