UP: A 20-Year-Old Woman Was Raped By An E-Rickshaw Driver:
The incident took place on Thursday night in UP's Bahraich when the 20-year-old girl was abducted on her way home from her grandmother's house when she was misled by an e-rickshaw driver claiming to be her aunt's acquaintance.
The e-rickshaw driver allegedly lied to the girl as he wanted to convince the survivor to climb into his e-rickshaw as he held demonic ulterior motives, which were successful as the girl boarded his vehicle.
The accused driver then allegedly took the young girl to his house, where he raped her, the police said.
On Friday morning, the driver left the survivor at the gates of the district's women's hospital as she was bleeding due to her rape injuries, while the accused fled the spot before anyone could notice.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Kunwar Gyanjay Singh said that based on the complaint by her mother, the police have registered an FIR, and the accused has been charged under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
The driver has been identified, and a manhunt has been launched to nab him while other investigations are underway as the survivor is receiving proper treatment, added ASP Singh.
In a similar incident from Ghaziabad's Khoda a few weeks earlier, an e-rickshaw driver noticed a girl returning from her maternal grandparent's home around 6:30 am when the two accused forced her into the e-rickshaw, tying her legs and arms with a cloth. As the rickshaw was stuck in a traffic jam, the girl was rescued by other auto drivers while the suspects fled the scene.
