A video of a young girl skating in saree, gliding through the alleys of a village in Uttar Pradesh, has caught the attention of thousands online.
Donned in a pink saree and pink skates, the 11-year-old girl rolled through the Ramkot village in Sitapur reportedly to dispel vaccine hesitancy and increase awareness about protection from COVID-19. Sure enough, as she took to the kachha roads around her village, people came out to take note.
During her interview with ANI, the little girl said that she wants to make people aware of vaccination and wearing masks. She said, " I got the idea that I should wear skates and raise awareness among people. Everyone must get vaccinated and wear masks."
The clip of the girl, first shared by Times Now, also came to the notice of Shamina Shafiq, All India Mahila Congress (AIMC) General-Secretary, based in Sitapur. Being overly shared on social media, the little girl has become an inspiration for many.
"Girl power," she tagged posting the video on her Twitter account. See below:

Girl Skating In Saree: Other Times Children Led The Fight Against COVID-19
The second wave of the pandemic wreaked unparalleled havoc across the country, from March through May. As the healthcare warriors took the frontlines, there were countless citizens rallying behind them in their fight against the virus. Among them, the youth took leadership in a big way, with children as young as schoolgoers stepping up to contribute to the cause.
Two class 10 students in Bengaluru, for instance, raised over two lakh rupees in a day to donate pulse oximeters to underprivileged families that could not afford them.
During the first wave, we reported of Sindhuri, a young disabled girl, who stitched face masks by herself in Karnataka. Read her story here.
