Steve Jobs was a dynamic personality who transformed the tech-industry with his unbelievable passion and vision of creating the world’s largest company-Apple. Interestingly, he also bears the title of being an unconventional leader. Well! That didn’t take us with surprise because perhaps someone who thought of Apple needed to exhibit some unconventional traits to help thousands of his employees to achieve what he aspired for!
He succumbed to pancreatic cancer on October 5, 2011 but his death couldn’t deter entrepreneurs around the world to stay inspired and motivated through his leadership skills and innovative ways of working.
1. Sometimes when you innovate, you make mistakes. It is best to admit them quickly, and get on with improving your other innovations.
2. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.
3. I'm convinced that about half of what separates successful entrepreneurs from the non successful ones is pure perseverance.
4. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle.
5. I'm as proud of many of the things we haven't done as the things we have done. Innovation is saying no to a thousand things.
6. Be a yardstick of quality. Some people aren't used to an environment where excellence is expected.
7. Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn’t really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while. That’s because they were able to connect experiences they’ve had and synthesize new things. And the reason they were able to do that was that they’ve had more experiences or they have thought more about their experiences than other people.
8. “When I was 17, I read a quote that went something like: 'If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you'll most certainly be right.' It made an impression on me, and since then, for the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: "If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?" And whenever the answer has been "No" for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.”
9. I think if you do something and it turns out pretty good, then you should go do something else wonderful, not dwell on it for too long. Just figure out what's next.
10. Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.
His words still reverberate in the hearts of millions of entrepreneurs aspiring to lead a happy and fulfilled life.
