Sameera Reddy on postpartum stress said that she couldn't feel happy after the birth of her first child. The actor expressed her journey through it and emphasised the importance and relevance of the mental well-being of new mothers.
Actor Sameera Reddy is always seen addressing some major issues of society on her social media ranging from flaunting her grey hair to being vocal about pregnancy and its aspect. Once again, Sameera took to her social media to share photos of her with Hans, her son and penned a note to address the issue of postpartum depression that many women, including herself, suffer from post-childbirth. The actor shared her experiences, journey and insights on the topic in an elaborate manner.
Sameera Reddy On Postpartum Stress: 'I Couldn't Feel Happy'
Sameera added her pictures with the caption, "For me, postpartum stress was hard and I did not act fast enough because I was unaware it existed. The pics I have shared in this post was me at my lowest. I couldn’t feel happy, however hard I tried after the birth of my first child. I still reflect on these moments and it only drives me harder to reach out to anyone not feeling good about themselves. You are not alone. And, being there for each other in tough times is so important."
Sameera's pictures included one with her sitting with Hans in her lap during a ritual and the second one with her holding him in her arms and smiling. The actor went on to share some ways for new mothers to cope with Postpartum Depression.
This is not the first time that Sameera has spoken on the topic of postpartum stress. She had reportedly talked about how she was unsure whether she wanted a second child or not. She even revealed how it affected her body, mental health and marriage. She said that her family and husband Akshai helped her cope with the stress at that time.
Reacting to her post, actor Anita Hassanandani, who herself became a mother an year ago, commented 'Best mom' while Gauahar Khan called her an 'amazing mom'. Sameera made her debut with the film Maine Dil Tujhko Diya in 2002. She quit acting after she got married to Akshai Varde in January 2014. The couple welcomed their first child, a son named Hans in 2015 and the second, a daughter named Nyra in 2019.
