Led by the International Menopause Society (IMS), this day encourages open conversations about menopause, which is often overlooked and under-discussed despite its profound impact on women's health and well-being. The aim is to break the silence around the symptoms, challenges, and solutions related to menopause, empowering women to seek the medical, emotional, and lifestyle support they need during this phase of life.

Through educational campaigns, health resources, and global events, the day emphasises the importance of early awareness, holistic care, and access to accurate information to manage menopause symptoms like hot flashes, mood swings, weight gain, and hormonal imbalances. It’s a day to celebrate the resilience of women and encourage them to take charge of their health during this transformative period.

How Gytree Menopause Protein helps women over 40

Gytree, a women’s health-focused brand, is set to revolutionise the market with the launch of India's first menopause-specific protein. This groundbreaking product is crafted to meet the unique nutritional needs of women experiencing menopause and perimenopause, a time when hormonal changes can significantly affect health, including muscle mass, bone density, skin elasticity, and energy levels. The carefully formulated plant-based protein is designed to support women through these changes by providing a high-quality source of essential amino acids, vitamins, and minerals that promote muscle maintenance, hormonal balance, and overall vitality.

It also includes ingredients known for their hormonal regulatory properties, such as chasteberry and ashwagandha, which help ease common menopause symptoms like hot flashes, mood swings, and sleep disturbances.

Gytree’s menopause protein not only fills a crucial gap in the market but also addresses the specific nutritional deficiencies that many women face during menopause, such as lower protein synthesis, which impacts muscle and bone health, and reduced collagen production, affecting skin and hair. By offering a specialized product tailored for this stage of life, Gytree empowers women to take control of their health and well-being.

The launch of this protein underscores Gytree’s commitment to bringing holistic, science-backed solutions to Indian women, making menopause management more accessible and effective. This pioneering product is poised to create a significant impact, offering women the tools they need to stay strong, active, and vibrant as they navigate through this natural phase of life.

Shaili Chopra, founder of Gytree says, “Menopause and women over 40 represent a deeply underserved market in India, where conversations around this stage of life are often hushed. The nutritional needs of women going through menopause, especially in terms of protein, are critical and yet largely unmet. At Gytree, we’re committed to changing that by offering solutions that empower women to manage their health with confidence.”

Menopause has a wide array of symptoms, all of which are triggered by the decline in the levels of estrogen and other hormones toward the end of her reproductive years. The most frequent symptom is hot flashes, i.e., intense sensations of warmth that come upon her suddenly and are often accompanied by sweating and flushing, mostly affecting the upper body. In addition, night sweats are highly prevalent in women; sometimes it becomes challenging to sleep and leads to fatigue during the day. Irregular periods are the last early sign. Since the menstrual cycle becomes inconsistent then stops altogether, some women feel they might be experiencing a weird process.

Some psychological symptoms also appear such as mood swings and irritation. In this state, there are those women who experience anxiety and depression, which can really interfere with their daily activities.

Most women undergo physical symptoms during menopause. Most gain weight, especially around the stomach because of the slowing down of metabolism. There may be a decrease in the production of collagen which may result in hair falling, dryness in the skin, and loss of skin elasticity. Many women also undergo this kind of problem with vaginal dryness when sex can be painful.

Another condition that may develop is a reduction in the bone mass-a higher risk for osteoporosis. Even though the intensity and range of symptoms may vary from one woman to another, changes highlight the need to meet the health-related issues concerning both physical and emotional well-being in the whole process of menopause.

Chahat Vasdev, nutritionist says, "After the age of 40, a woman's body goes through significant hormonal changes that can lead to muscle loss, slower metabolism, and decreased bone density. Protein becomes essential in maintaining strength, supporting muscle mass, and promoting overall vitality during this phase of life. It's a crucial nutrient that helps women age with strength and resilience."
