All viral trends of TikTok are delicious by default. But this one is a little too juicier. You must have come across Logan Moffitt's viral cucumber salad video. Logan, now fondly called the cucumber guy has posted many variations of salad recipes where cucumber was the main character. Some of these have garnered close to 30 million views on TikTok.
The Recipe Of Virality: Cucumber Salad
Logan posted his first cucumber-related video in July which garnered people's attention. Going ahead, he posted a few more variations of the diet and it caught on with the TikTok audience.
Logan's USP remains that he puts the whole cucumber in.
His recipe is simple, he places a mandoline on top of a deli container, slides a whole cucumber, adds the ingredients, pops on the lid and then shakes vigorously.
Who is the Cucumber Guy?
The cucumber guy's real name is Logan Moffitt. He is a 23-year-old content creator from Canada. He is often seen preparing and then relishing on dishes which draw influence from the Korean cuisine.
With his cucumber salad recipes making all the rage right now he is also being hilariously regarded as the "most hydrated guy" on TikTok.
Draws criticism from kitchen experts
Logan is an influencer, he is not so much a cook as he is someone who sells culinary experience to viewers. So when he reached impossible heights of fame, it was destined he'd receive some flak from the kitchen or health experts online.
As his cucumber salad recipe above reads, he throws all ingredients in a container and shakes them vigorously till they mix and are ready to eat. Criticism reads that there is no way he can mix all of that ready-to-eat in a simple container. They also say rigorous shaking is not good culinary science.
A comment reads, "Every time I think no way he can shake all of that up and then you do."
Grocery stores are running out of cucumbers due to this
Social Media has the power to influence people's perceptions. A nose of what's trendy has led to significant shifts in what people find appealing. But who knew, social media can affect consumer behaviour so evidently? Markets are emptying out of cucumbers, courtesy cucumber guy. Grocery stores are not able to keep up with the high demand caused by TikToker's newfound obsession.
Prominent social media creator Mario Nawfal pointed out the insane effect of the trend on X, "Logan Moffitt started a trend that has everyone clamouring for cucumbers to create Asia-inspired salads, leaving grocery stores struggling to keep with the demand."
