Netizens showered Sastry with praises and compliments for their performance. One user commented that “This is so inspiring”. Another user described drag busking as the “Best way to reach out to people”.

One user pointed out that “Kids are always accepting and king by heart till the world teaches them prejudice.”

Who Is Patruni Sastry?

Patruni Sastry is described on their Instagram page as a drag artist, expressionist dancer, and folk singer. Sastry is also a trained classical dancer and software professional. They have done several shows and performances and have been vocal about the derogatory and bigoted they receive.

Sastry once shared a post with several of the negative and bigoted comments they had received on social media platforms. They said, “If you shower hate on someone whom you don’t even know, what do you do to someone who is next to you?”

In the caption, they implored queer people to not be mean to each other. They said “Support and be together with each other and create a network of happiness”.

Sastry came out as pansexual and gender fluid after the Supreme Court decriminalised homosexuality in 2018. The next year, they began performing drag. Since then, Sastry has performed in more than 150 shows across India. In 2021, they redefined themselves as pomosexual and non-binary.

Patruni Sastry and their partner Raja Rajeshwari Devi got married in November 2021.
