'Dreamt To Be Chef': 24YO Indian Woman Dies On Flight Back To India Before Take-Off

An Indian-origin woman travelling back to India after four years collapsed on the flight before take-off and died on the spot. The flight was heading from Melbourne to Delhi.

An Indian-origin woman who was travelling back to India after four years collapsed on the flight before take-off and died on the spot. The flight was heading from Melbourne to Delhi. On June 20, the flight was about to take off from Tullamarine Airport when 24-year-old Manpreet Kaur fell on the ground while trying to put on the seat belt. According to reports, Kaur died due to tuberculosis.

As per the reports, Kaur was feeling unwell hours before arriving at the airport. Her friend told the Herald Sun that Kaur managed to board the flight despite her medical condition. However, after entering the flight, she collapsed and died on the spot.

Gurdeep Grewal, Kaur's friend, told the Herald Sun, ''When she got on the plane, she struggled to put her seatbelt on. Just before her flight started, she fell in front of her seat and died on the spot." 

Qantas flight spokesperson said that when Kaur collapsed, the flight crew and emergency services tried to assist Kaur with medical facilities. But their attempt went in vain. It was concluded that Kaur might have died due to tuberculosis. The spokesperson further said that their “thoughts are with her family and loved ones”.

Kaur's roommate said that she was working at Australia Post and wanted to become a chef.

Manpreet Kaur's friend started a fundraiser to collect money for her family

After the tragic loss, Kaur's friend Grewal started a fundraiser GoFundMe to help Kaur's family financially. He stated, "Hi, my name is Gurdip Grewal and I'm fundraising for Manpreet Kaur. She was a student from my village and going home. She died in a plane during take-off at Melbourne Airport."

Grewal added that his friend Manpreet Kaur left too soon and created a void in everyone's heart. 

Urging everyone to contribute to the fundraiser, Grewal said, "As we grieve her passing, we want to come together to honour her memory and support her family in their time of need. As we say our final goodbyes, every contribution, big or small, brings us closer to our goal. Your support means the world to us and Manpreet's family." 

Victoria Police is preparing a report for the coroner to inspect the unnatural death of Manpreet Kaur.
