On the eve of Friendship Day, I am thinking why are friends so important in our lives. Is it because of their ability to laugh with us and sometimes even at us for hours together? Or for the fact that they’ll be there for you at a drop of a hat if you need a shoulder to cry on? Or the fact that they love you unconditionally for everything that you are and aren’t? Having great friends to share your life with is a gift like no other that's for sure.
On August 4, we will celebrate one of the purest and most selfless relationships, each of us will definitely go online to post stuff that would define our friendship goals with our BFFs. However, many of us have something already pre-planned for the day. Let's find out!
SheThePeople.TV spoke to a few college going girls to get an idea of how they are planning to celebrate Friendship Day and with whom.
Plans of millennials
Lovely Singh, a student of National Rifle Association Institute said, “Coincidentally, my friends have organised a trip to Rishikesh around this time. Although, I don't enjoy going on long trips but this trip would also let me celebrate Friendship Day with them. I am too excited but also sad. I want to enjoy it to the fullest as it's our third year and I am unsure if we would we able to get together like this in the near future.”
“For me, every day is like Friendship Day. As soon as I enter my college, I get a different vibe which is full of love and warmth."
“For me, every day is like Friendship Day. As soon as I enter my college, I get a different vibe which is full of love and warmth. We go out on sudden hangouts, bunk classes together, do night-outs, plan movie dates, and what not. However, we have a different plan this year. I would probably vote for a house party and spend the whole night chit-chatting with them. I think this is the time when we all should sit together and think seriously about our future plans as well,” said Ekta Bharti, a Journalism student of National Rifle Association Institute.
While Vasundhara Singh, a student of Kamala Nehru College joyfully said, “It's not only Friendship Day but also my Birthday. My friends and I have been waiting for both for quite a while. I will do as my friends suggest. As for now, we have decided that we might go shopping in the afternoon time and then go for clubbing at night.”
Celebrating Friendship Day
Divya Tripathi, a student of Kamala Nehru College said, “As for now, I can't say that I have some special plans. But, my school friends and I decided long back that we might do a reunion. Let's see if they are going to surprise me with their visit to my home together. We would plan things as per everyone's comfort. However, the idea of a reunion with your school friends after three years and that too on Friendship Day is thrilling.”
"I have just shifted to Delhi after securing admission in Delhi University. I can't help it but I am still not over my school friends. I have spent almost my childhood with them and staying apart from them really hurts. But, I am super excited now as I would be officially celebrating my Friendship Day with them."
“It was not planned earlier but I am going to my home in a few hours. I would probably reach by the morning of August 4. I have just shifted to Delhi after securing admission in Delhi University. I can't help it but I am still not over my school friends. I have spent almost my childhood with them and staying apart from them really hurts. But, I am super excited now as I would be officially celebrating my Friendship Day with them. Along with this, I would also meet my parents for the first time after I have shifted here. They have been my soul mates for my life and I can't forget them on this day as well. I might celebrate with my friends in the evening and go out on a dinner with them,” said Neha Srivastav, a first-year student of Lady Shri Ram College.
The most beautiful thing in life is having a friend who loves and cares about you despite the way you are. Cherish them, love them, protect them, and nurture them. Let's wish that each one of us have an amazing, memorable, and an exciting Friendship Day!
