The coronavirus pandemic has brought the world to a standstill. Offices, malls, schools, colleges, and whatnot; all remain shut under lockdown to contain the transmission of the deadly virus. The 'work from home' culture has been widely adopted by India's corporate sector. Employees have thus been experiencing a drastic change in their routines.
As a part of our series 'How Coronavirus Changed My Life' we spoke to Apoorva Srivastava, who works at Nucleus Software, an IT company that caters to the financial sector. Not being used to the practice of working from home, Apoorva has been struggling a bit because of the flexible work hours. However, she does think that the lockdown was utterly necessary to tackle the situation.
Routine
I've been working with the company as a Corporate Affairs Executive for the past one year and five months. We're not used to carrying the burden of office deadlines back home since most of the tasks get done and dusted in the boardrooms and on our office systems. Now, due to the lockdown, we all are working from home. So routine remains the same, except we are doing meetings and everything through WebEx and con calls. However, there is hardly a fixed schedule and I am often working post 8 pm at night which has blurred the line between personal and professional life.

A comforting prospect
Effect on the business
Given the gravity of the situation, we've all become quite paranoid regarding our safety, which is in a way, needed.

Government's action
I think the government was quite pro-active in taking the necessary measures as compared to other countries who are impacted by this pandemic. The right action at the right time was absolutely essential and I'm glad about the fact that our government realised the importance of the nation-wide lockdown soon enough. The numbers are still in control and can further be tackled if we take the advisories seriously and follow the precautionary measures in a stringent manner.
