Routine gives us a sense of security. Following a routine makes us feel that everything is under our control. But thanks to coronavirus, we are in our third week of lockdown, it seems like our daily routine was a part of another lifetime. All of us are locked in our houses trying to keep ourselves safe and sane. For many of us, it might seem like there is no reason to wake up and get ready. But that is not true. Dressing up daily, in fact, can play a vital role in keeping you happy, active and positive. Even during these difficult times, you should make an effort to freshen and dress up, just like you used to while going to work.

In case you need reasons to dress up even during quarantine and lockdown when you have nowhere to go, here is a list.

1. A fresh body leads to a fresh mind

We know quarantine means you don't have to go out. But this is also a time to be productive. Now, you have time in abundance. But to be able to think fresh, you have to be fresh. Once you dress up properly, you would feel less inclined to lie on the couch doing nothing! Bright clothes can brighten your mood and can help you function better. Also, by dressing up, I do not mean just wearing good clothes. It simply means you should get up, brush, take a shower and wear clean clothes.

2. Time to Experiment

You know, you were always too scared to wear that top because it was probably too bright. Well, this is the time to check. You can make all your fashion blunders and nobody will remember you for them. Well, because nobody would know about them!

By the end of the lockdown, you might as well know what not to buy, the next time you want to go shopping. Which is probably going to be as soon as the lockdown lifts! Try out the clothes hidden deep inside your closet because you didn't know whether they would look good or not. Those too tight or too loose tops. Mix and match and pretend like you are a fashion blogger!

3. Always Meeting/Class/Face Time Ready

Someone on Instagram wrote, "I am late for everything irrespective of whether I have to travel for them or not." Well, same bro, same. If you too are one such person, who is late for a meeting/class even when you are working from home, dressing up, as usual, comes in handy. And even otherwise, there is no last moment fret about a ragged t-shirt or about not being presentable. You can also take those random video calls from your friends without risking a disgusting screenshot that'll be used generously by them on your next birthday.

Also, your boss/teacher would be super impressed to see you working sincerely from home. Who knows you may even get better grades in your internals or maybe an appraisal. Maybe. No promises.

4. Relieves Anxiety

I am no psychology expert. But from my own personal experience, I have realised that dressing up calms me down. Freshening up to start my day, dressing in clean clothes and applying lipstick makes me feel so much in control of my day, even before I have started working. When you are dressed properly, you are active. Being active means you will give one hundred percent to your work and stay attentive throughout your working hours. Being active thus means being productive. When you feel less guilty about being unproductive, you feel less anxious. Hence proved.

5. Photoshoots by/with siblings

When you are all dressed up, you can do those impromptu photoshoots with your siblings on the terrace. And if you happen to be the elder one, you can also bully them into clicking some great, probably Instagrammable pictures of yours. So you will have some proper pictures to show to the next generation and tell them about the lockdown.

You do realise you are living through a major historical event, don't you? And if you survive, you ought to have good stories to tell your kids and when they ask for pictures you have to look like a diva!
